Random Cairns

Our week's holiday in Cairns went way too fast.  This is the church where we had sacrament meeting with the branch.

I used a trolley to push the girls downtown because we forgot our prams.  (I'm talking like a real Aussie lately).
We thought this was so cool, a huge public swimming pool right on the ocean.

 Shopping at night.

 The Esplanade again at night.

 The Night Markets.

 Downtown Cairns at night.

I know we wore out Hope after our holiday, and I'm pretty sure the rest of us slept well after our flight home.  The only problem now is Doug is trying to find a way to go back :)

Barron Falls

In Kuranda you can take a short walk down to a beautiful look-out for Barron Falls.  There was not a ton of water running off the falls, but it was still a pretty walk.
 Yes, through more rainforest.

 Watch for cassowaries.
And just a couple more pictures from paradise at Palm Cove and Trinity Beach.

Kuranda

If you drive up a mountain in Cairns, you get a beautiful view and you'll be in the village of Kuranda.
We went to the Butterfly Sanctuary.

And we went to check out the Kuranda Markets.  Kuranda is a major hippie village.  After running into many real-life hippies, we decided that Hope is a hippy at heart:  no shoes, hates to have her hair combed, hates to wear a coat, and hasn't had  a bath for awhile.
