The Last Rugby Game

In a chilly, foggy morning James played in his last rugby game.  He has loved every minute and I know he'll miss this the most.

They didn't win, but James scored for his team and he was the only one who scored.  He finished the season and was able to play every game.

Fergus, Max, James, Costa, Alex, Zack and James
Jett, Max, James, Zack and Alex.  His team was so good to James. They gave him a nice collage of photos of him playing rugby in a frame and a rugby hoody with his name on the back.
We have loved going to James' games.  The parents are all so great and hugged us today.  More tears.
James and Mr. McMahon his PE teacher and a great mentor to James.
After the game James went to hang out with his best friend Nicolas.  They brought him home and we got to say goodbye and cry some more.  Joe, Natalie, James, Nicolas, me and Doug.  This is not the easiest thing in the world to move from such great people and experiences.

Rugby Mania

James and his team had an awesome game today against UniNorths.
James scored five tries and had heaps of tackles.
Here's the money shot--James brought that big boy down.
Here's a photo of James getting his award for Man of the Match.  It was a good day for rugby!

More Rugby

Grammar played St. Eddy's today and killed them.
James' team got to play on the main oval today.

James running in one of his three tries he scored today--a hat trick.

James got an award for best tackling.
Rugby is a great way to get those loose teeth out. James lost a tooth in the middle of the game.

Let's Get Ready to Rugby

And so it begins.  I must say that I'm kind of excited for James' rugby season.  It is a lot more exciting to watch than cricket and much shorter.  So even though we sat through a rainy game this morning freezing our buns off, I can't complain.
 James is the kicker.

They won and had a fantastic game.

Rugby Presentation Evening

We are so proud of James for his great rugby season. He had never played rugby in his life, but tonight he got the award for being the Best Back at the Rugby Presentation Evening for all rugby players at Grammar.  Each team could only give out four awards, and we're super proud of James for being the best back on his team.

Grand Finals

James' team was thrilled to make it to the Grand Finals in their division in rugby this year.
They played Gungahlin Eagles and played hard.

They didn't win today, but they celebrated a great season.  James was OK to be the runner-up because he still got his medal.

We celebrated with the team after the game at Angus' house.  Of course it was a sausage sizzle.  What else would it be in Australia?

We couldn't find the girls during the party. Angus' little brother had taken them to his parents' bedroom and they were all cozy in the bed watching a movie.  I guess they're not shy.
