Our Newest Deacon

Today was a big day in our family.  Doug ordained James to be a Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood.  We were very blessed to be with family for this special occasion.  Doug gave James a wonderful blessing, and we all feel so blessed to have James in our family.

Scout Camp

From June 22-27, Doug, Spencer and James were with their scout troop at scout camp at Camp Marriott near Goshen, VA.  Here are the photos from their week.

 Nice catch, James!

 Weston and James
Coulson loved the fire and especially the ashes.  Can you believe he wore these same clothes all week?  I can.

 James and Weston were roomies.
 Spencer and Coulson were roomies.

This scout troop is kind of like the bad news bears.  They won the coveted oar for having the cleanest camp.  No one could believe it.

At the end of the week, Faith made these cards for the boys and put them on their beds with photos.

I love that Faith did that!  I think the boys had a great week.  They might have starved for the week because they never had enough food, but they had fun.

Zip-Lining

I took the boys to a zip-line place this afternoon as a reward for a great school year.

The girls were pretty good to wait for them in the heat.

Honor Assembly

This week the girls and I went to the boys' school to their A/B Honor Roll Assembly.  At least this time Spencer showed up to the assembly, but this is as close as I could get to taking his picture at school.
James looks totally thrilled that we showed up too.  He was even more thrilled when the girls knocked over the flag pole and broke the eagle at the top.  They still got their fruit snacks despite the eagle disaster.

Contacts and Christmas Parties

I wore contacts for the first time when I was in eighth grade, and I told Spencer he could get contacts in eighth grade.  He's been in eighth grade a long time and was overdue for contacts.  When James came home from school this week with his glasses in a pile of crushed metal and glass I figured we might as well get James in contacts too.  Friday night we hung out at Costco watching these boys put contacts in for the first time.  It's no easy thing.  It was quite the night since Faith threw up all the way to Costco.  Thank heavens for ziplock bags :)

Saturday night was our ward Christmas party.  Of course the girls are the only ones who let me take their picture anymore.
