Spooky Embassy

We love Halloween at the Embassy.  This year I took eight kids with me because each child could bring a friend.  The local kids loved it.  It's the best ticket in town on Halloween.  This year the MARS Co. donated so much candy that we didn't even have  to bring a bag of candy to participate.

 And we're in.

Spencer found his costume for next year.  He loved the Bacon Man.

You can choose to go up to the friendly graveyard walk or down to the spook alley.
My friend Shanae was in charge of the candy walk.

We later took the kids back to the spook alley for a second go, but Spencer still refused.  Hope and Faith kept saying they never want to do that ever again.

The Ambassador's house. This is the first time I'd met our new Ambassador Mr. Barry and his husband.
I threw on a wig to spice up my disco outfit.

It was a treat to have a sausage sizzle with real American hot dogs instead of the Aussie sausages.  Still on bread, but it was a treat.
We came home and let the kids go trick-or-treating in our neighborhood.  It is nothing like trick-or-treating in America.  Most Aussies will tell you Halloween is such an American thing and not their tradition. I think after walking lots we found maybe ten houses that gave us candy. I'm still not sure it was worth it considering I had to carry Hope wearing platform sandals.  We were pretty lame and didn't even carve our pumpkin that we bought for $13 from Costco.  I'm not sure how we forgot to do that.  Doug did a great job decorating our house, though. There was no mistake that this house was celebrating Halloween.
