Peter Whitmer Farm

Before we drove home today, we got to go to church at the Fayette Ward at the Peter Whitmer Farm where the church was first organized in 1830.

The farm house is right next to the church, and after sacrament meeting the sister missionaries gave us a tour of the house and showed us a movie in the visitor's center in the church.

We had such a great time on our vacation to the cradle of the restoration.  What a blessing to be here!

So Cheerful

We camped at Cheerful Valley Campground while in upstate New York along the Finger Lakes.
Definitely a cheerful place as long as the power is on.  A major transformer down the street blew and the entire campground was without water and power for a day.  Luckily we had all showered except Doug.

It had been pouring rain before we got here and the first site they wanted to give us was covered in a foot of water.  We were upgraded for free to pool side camping sites.  It's a great little campground, and a river runs through it.

We would definitely come here again!

Show Time

The Hill Cumorah Pageant is something we have always wanted to do, so we were pretty excited to actually be here!  We got here really early to get a good seat.  Since we had a lot of time to kill, we hiked to the top of the hill.  (It's not that big.)
In front of the stage for the pageant.
At the top looking down at all the seats.  All the seats were filled and all the grass was covered in blankets when it started.
This statue is at the top of the hill.

We went in the Visitor's Center too.

While we waited for show time we took heaps of photos with the cast members.

 We liked King Noah's costume!
This origami lady was just a visitor to the pageant who went around making origami animals for the kids while we waited.

Hope saw her a mile away and had to go get a picture with her because she loved the pink veil.
We bought some burgers and hot dogs from the Kiwanis Club selling food tonight.

We loved it!

Low Bridge, Everybody Down!

We stopped by to see how people navigate the Erie Canal while in Palmyra.  We were lucky enough to see a boat go through the lock.

 Pretty cool stuff!
I'm pretty sure the kids liked the Chill and Grill better than the Erie Canal.  Their ice cream cones were huge!!
