Faith had been asking for months if she could host a tea party. I finally agreed and we got to work. We made these cute invitations and hoped that since it was scheduled for the last day of school before school holidays most would go out of town.
We ended up having 17 little girls for our tea party. I didn't really know what to do for a tea party so we made it up as we went along. We started out playing Tea Party Bingo and they could win fancy, junk jewelry.
They decorated tea pot sugar cookies and little tea cup cup cakes.
What a crowd. We served little sandwiches, strawberries and carrot sticks and hot chocolate instead of tea. My friend said it looked like a unicorn threw up on our table while we were cleaning it all up.
I think they loved it.
I saw these cup cake molds at the Reject Shop and had to buy them.
The tea pot had hot chocolate. We got all of our tea cups and saucers and the tea pot at the junk shop (a big green shed full of junk that people don't want anymore; basically a junky thrift shop.) When Faith saw the tea pot she said, "This is so beautiful, why would anyone give this to the junk shop?" Maybe it was the crack in the spout :)
When it was all over the girls got to decorate a cake with the left over frosting.
I know it's the 4th of July and it isn't a very conventional way to celebrate, but the more I think about it, a tea party is the perfect way to celebrate America :)
