The Day After the Storm

Yesterday was a great snow storm. It was well deserving of a snow day.  Of course they would never send kids to school with this much snow still on the ground, so they got today off of school as well.  I told my kids to enjoy their very last snow day of the school year.

The Bus Crashed

The boys were really late getting home from school today.  I thought their bus driver was on vacation and they had to be a second-load bus.  Finally the phone rang with a recorded message about a bus accident and all the kids were fine.  Then the principal called me and said that James was fine, but he was sitting in the seat where all the glass came crashing into the seat.  He was at the nurse's clinic and needed a ride.  When I went to pick him up his hand was bandaged and he had glass in the hood of his sweatshirt.  Everything was fine, but it makes a great story. James was especially excited about missing piano lessons because he couldn't use his hand, or so he said :)

Stir Crazy

We are going stir crazy over here.  We have had way too many snow days.  Sometimes there is actually snow.  Most of the time there isn't.  I took the kids to the trampoline place in Manassas today just to get out of the house.  Groupon came in handy. This place had more rules than any trampoline place we'd ever been.  Hope and Phebe had to wear helmets.  I think the last half hour of our jump session Hope ditched the helmet.

The kids went to school once this week.  I hope they get in a full week next week.

Valentine's Day

We don't have a lot of pictures of Valentine's Day this year.  I did Faith's hair like a heart on Friday the 13th.
I went to Faith's school to help pass out Valentines.
We had heart-shaped pizza for dinner.  This is about as exciting as it got around here.  On Valentine's Day I was gone all day with Spencer and James working on the scout fund raiser making cookie dough.  I went to our stake temple night that night, and I wasn't even home all day.

The Princess Plays

On this very cold night I took the girls to our local high school for the Princess Plays.
The first play was Sleeping Beauty.  They called people to go up on stage.  Hope was so shy.  Faith was not.
 Hope, Phebe and Faith
They met Sleeping Beauty at the intermission.  The girls loved her dress.
Faith and Phebe went on stage again in the second play, Cinderella.

 Hope was too shy.
Photos with Cinderella, the Prince and the Fairy Godmother.  We thought Cinderella was the best.  So cute.

Honor Assembly

This week the girls and I went to the boys' school to their A/B Honor Roll Assembly.  At least this time Spencer showed up to the assembly, but this is as close as I could get to taking his picture at school.
James looks totally thrilled that we showed up too.  He was even more thrilled when the girls knocked over the flag pole and broke the eagle at the top.  They still got their fruit snacks despite the eagle disaster.

Preschool Party

This week we were in charge of preschool.  I really love this preschool Hope gets to do. She loves the girls she goes to school with and with seven girls, it means the moms only have to teach four times during the school year.  We celebrated today with a Valentine's party.  The elementary school is pretty strict around here for holidays.  They have dumb rules like no candy with Valentines allowed and no sugary food at class parties.  I thought I would make up for all that with these girls.  There was no shortage of sugar at this party.

The Newest Teacher

This morning Spencer was finally ordained a Teacher after he turned 14 in December.  Doug, Jason and Bishop Roney were there for his ordination.  So grateful for Spencer. Sure love this boy!

More Hoops

We are still cheering every Saturday for our favorite basketball team.  They are pretty entertaining!  Sorry for the blurry pictures--James just moves too fast.
