Mammy, Spencer and Tyler tried to fly to our house last Saturday. That same day, the aviation office near our house did a systems upgrade that crashed the entire system. No flights were allowed in and out of the East coast for four hours while they tried to fix it. Long story short, Spencer, Tyler and Mammy were stranded in Las Vegas and tried to get on the soonest flight to DC. Since so many flights were cancelled, the soonest and closest they could get to DC was Sunday night...in New York. That is the bad news. The good news is James, Faith, Hope and I got to go pick them up and spent a fabulous day in New York today. We drove up last night and picked them up at the airport and spent the night. Today we spent the day in New York, and our first stop was Central Park Zoo.
"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived." — Marjorie Pay Hinckley
