The Joys of Flying

One mom, three kids, two airports, six hours in the air, about 30 people who cringed when they saw us sitting by them.

There was a young mom who felt very old,
I don't know why she felt very old, I think it's the cold.
She felt very old because she wore the same clothes for two days,
She wore the same clothes because her luggage was lost,
Her luggage was lost because their plane was late and they barely made the connection,
Their plane was late because the airport was crazy,
The airport was crazy because it was closed the day before.
The airport was closed because of the snow,
Yep, I'm blaming the cold!

Snowed In

Today we were supposed to get on one of these to go to Utah for Christmas. Darn Murphy! Why does he have to be right? On the one day we decide to fly, the biggest snow storm to hit DC in December EVER shuts down all airports and our flight was canceled.
This is how much snow we got on our deck.
Since we weren't going anywhere, Santa came for a visit to deliver some large presents early.
The boys wanted skate boards and Santa delivered.

Faith was right in the middle of the action.

Besides skateboards and Nerf guns, the boys wanted LEGOs.

Faith got a miniature kitchen and bedroom set.
Her new comforter for a bed she doesn't have yet.
Our snowed in day proved to be productive in mastering skate board skills in the basement.
And I mastered LEGO building. OK, so maybe I'm a special ed. LEGO builder. Would you believe this Star Wars space thing took me eight hours to build? That's right, I had nothing to do for eight hours but build Spencer's LEGOs. (We don't need to mention that Doug built the one for James in about half the time.)

Splish Splash

Spencer was taking a bath, and I guess Faith wanted to join him. She jumped in with her clothes on.

We've Been Busy

I've been a cookie-making machine these last few days. I went to a cookie exchange this afternoon and got even more cookies.

These are a dang good cookie. Go here for the recipe. They are great for the holidays.
If anyone who lives by me read my blog, I'd tell them to come and get some cookies. I really don't want to eat all of these!

Deck the Halls

We have a tree but no ornaments.

We have stockings but no chimney.
We have a gingerbread house.

And we have the lights up. I guess we're ready for Christmas!

Funny little Faith

Faith took her first steps on Nov. 1st and by Nov. 25th, she decided to be a full-time walker. She seems to know what she wants a lot more now she's off and going. She loves to help anywhere she can. Here she's helping the boys put their clothes away.

Chocolate chip cookies.
She also loves to color. She can find a crayon a mile away.
She seems to be target practice a lot.
Funny girl!

A Nephite Christmas

Saturday night our church was transformed into ancient America for our ward Christmas party.
Here is James dressed in character hanging out at the fruit and candy booth all night.
Spencer's costume.
Doug was the star of the play in his role as Samuel the Lamanite.

Oops, no costume for Faith. What does a baby Nephite wear? We couldn't pull it together in time.

Scouts at Air and Space

We went on a field trip last Wednesday with the cub scouts to the Air and Space Museum by our house. We had never been here before, and we have never seen the second Transformers movie either. As you walk down this big ramp, they have a TV set up showing the scene of the movie filmed right where the boys are standing. Well, that got the boys' attention and we couldn't move them away from the TV. I don't think they cared about anything else they saw.

Eyes still glued to the Transformer movie.
A display of transformers.

I was quite impressed with this space shuttle, but the boys were more concerned about getting back to the transformer movie.
OK, they did really like this R2D2 mailbox too.
The Concorde.
Proof that Faith was with us.
