Arrow of Light

Somebody told me to enjoy the time my boys are in cub scouts because it will go quickly. There were days when I was trapped in the van with the cub scouts on our way home from a field trip, and I thought that advice was crazy. Now I know she was right. Spencer got his Arrow of Light at Pack Meeting tonight, and his time as a cub scout is all but over.
James picked up his award tonight.

The Arrow of Light Ceremony in our ward is led by the three chiefs.

The chief Dad gave him his arrow.

The welcome into boy scouts.

Retiring the flag.

I made these treats to honor Spencer's big night.

Guess who really liked it?

Ride, Bounce, Slide

Doug has never been able to go to Cox Farms with us because it is so busy and more expensive on the only days he can go. We took Doug to a very low-budget type of Cox Farms today, Layng's Pumpkin Fest near Leesburg. We had the place nearly to ourselves and enjoyed all the stale, free popcorn we could eat (which wasn't a lot). Like all good fall festivals, it had a hay ride.

It's a requirement that hay rides in Virginia have cheap looking characters to look at.

Take Jasmine for example, who is missing an arm.

Faith loved the toddler playground.

Great times in the bounce houses.

Their favorite thing was the slide hill.

First it was sliding...

then it was surfing.

My boys are brilliant.

Thank you, Groupon, for a fun-filled, $25 day.
