After three nights at Phillip Island, we drove about four hours to the Great Ocean Road to Apollo Bay where we camped for four nights at the Marengo Holiday Park.
We ate breakfast in the camp kitchen where the kids watched cartoons.
That's the ocean at the end of the road, and our first night here we watched a whale.
The camping sites are really close together, so it's good that we had great neighbors. Brent and Michelle and their four kids camped next to us. The kids played great together, and we stayed up too late talking after the kids were asleep.
We had never seen this before we moved to Australia, a camping trailer attached to a cabin. You can buy this little cabin and stay as long as you'd like.
We called this the sand lot. All the camp kids got together for some cricket most nights.
We loved listening to the kids' conversations. The Aussie kids kept telling my kids they talked weird. They asked my kids for their names. After Spencer said his name, the kids said, "Spensssssirrrrrrr" emphasizing the rrrrrrr. Of course they say "Spensa." Faith had to keep telling the kids, "I speak American!" From then on she would introduce Hope to Aussies and say, "This is my sister Hope. She talks weird." (Just for the record we can't understand a lot of what Hope says, so Faith's not entirely wrong.)
We just had to walk a few feet and we were at the beach.
Great times at Apollo Bay!
