We spent our day with the aboriginals at Tjapukai. It is similar to the Polynesian Cultural Center, on a smaller scale.
They performed for us.
Made fire.
They taught us all about weaponry and warfare.
And food and herbs.
Our favorite part was throwing spears....
and boomerangs. So we didn't get them to come back to us enough that we could catch them, but the boomerangs did make a great circle and they looked like they would come back to us.
Rock painting.
Hope had her hand painted as well.
We had our own private didgeridoo concert. This man played the didgeridoo to imitate animal sounds and pictures were projected on the screen.
Face painting.
We had some dance lessons. We were supposed to dance like a cassowary bird and kangaroos.
James was a little nervous about shaking his tail feathers.
Doug's got the moves.
These boomerangs are instruments when you beat them together.
It was a fun afternoon!
