Tauranga

This morning we woke up in Tauranga.  It is our morning ritual to head to the breakfast buffet before going anywhere else.  Hope and Faith talk on their wallets they got like cell phones.

They love the pancakes and waffles.

When we got off the ship, we joined a tour bus that went around Tauranga.  We rode to the top of a hill for a beautiful look out.  Captain Cook called this the Bay of Plenty when he first landed here.  It's so beautiful and green.

Our tour took us to a kiwi orchard where we learned how kiwi fruit grows. It looks a lot like a vineyard.  Kiwi is also called Chinese Gooseberry.  When New Zealand started exporting kiwi fruit to the United States, it was during the Cold War.  They couldn't call it the Chinese Gooseberry during the Cold War, so New Zealand changed the name to kiwi fruit.

The kiwi fruit ice cream was a hit.

After our tour, we walked around the shops and stopped into another bakery.  My Kiwi friends told me to stop at as many bakeries as we could, so we did :).
